Job Overview

Every day, people come to VRChat to meet others, discover new experiences, express themselves, and build lasting communities. Few product roles combine the rigor of consumer internet, the complexity of social systems, the novelty of immersive computing, and the leverage of a creator-driven platform.

We’re looking for a Director of Product to lead one of VRChat’s highest-priority consumer product areas. This is a senior individual contributor role for a product leader who can identify high-leverage opportunities, define clear strategy, and drive cross-functional execution that delivers measurable results.

The exact scope of this role may flex based on the strengths of the person we hire and the company’s highest-priority needs. It may span areas such as growth, core user experience, discovery and personalization, trust & safety, social systems, or monetization. Regardless of scope, the mandate is the same: make VRChat more valuable to users, strengthen the health of the platform, and drive durable company growth.

You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Community, Trust & Safety, Operations, Legal, and executive leadership. Success in this role requires strong consumer product judgment, a rigorous experimentation mindset, and a track record of shipping products that moved real user and business metrics.

This role has significant executive visibility and regularly communicates progress, tradeoffs, and outcomes to leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Define product strategy for a major consumer-facing area and translate it into a clear roadmap, priorities, and measurable outcomes.

  • Own meaningful user and business metrics, using data to identify opportunities across acquisition, activation, retention, engagement, social health, monetization, and ecosystem growth.

  • Lead product development end-to-end: problem framing, customer insight, requirements, prioritization, launch planning, experimentation, and post-launch iteration.

  • Partner deeply with Engineering, Design, and Data to ship high-quality experiences across both traditional interfaces and immersive environments.

  • Bring rigor to measurement and decision-making through strong metric design, funnel analysis, A/B testing, rollout plans, and ongoing optimization.

  • Balance short-term impact with long-term user satisfaction, platform health, creator success, and company growth.

  • Navigate complex tradeoffs and align cross-functional teams around clear priorities and decisions.

  • Communicate strategy, progress, tradeoffs, and results clearly to executives and key stakeholders.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product management experience building large-scale consumer products.

  • A track record of owning meaningful product areas and shipping work that drove measurable impact on growth, retention, engagement, monetization, or ecosystem health.

  • Strong background in experimentation and measurement, including A/B testing, funnel analysis, metric design, and data-informed decision-making.

  • Experience partnering closely with engineering, design, and data teams on technically complex products.

  • Strong consumer product instincts and sound judgment around user experience, business outcomes, and platform tradeoffs.

  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to operate with autonomy, urgency, and high standards in a fast-moving environment.
